Make a date with LaFontaines in city gig

The band, who are still unsigned to a record label, will headline the evening which also includes bands Darc and Teklo for the over-14s show at the popular venue.

The band, who take their name from voice-over actor, Don LaFontaine, play a fusion of rap, hip hop, indie, pop, rock and electro.

Hailing from Motherwell, the band’s lead singer, Kerr Okan, keeps his central Scotland accent when he sings while others may adopt a south central LA twang.

The LaFontaines have quite a following in the Glasgow music scene and, following a well-attended gig at T in the Park’s T Break Stage, this will no doubt have increased.

The inspiration for the band’s music is in the members’ relationships, living their lives in an urban town and whatever experiences they have gained along the way.

However, one song, The Vulcan, has little to do with Motherwell as it is based on the race of people in sci-fi TV show Star Trek.

The LaFontaines are on the cusp of success and will take the offbeat style of music much further n the future.

The LaFontaines, Darco and Teklo play King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut tonight at 8pm. Tickets £6.
