Marking the Jubilee in style

PEOPLE up and down Clydesdale tucked into cake as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations were marked in colourful style at several events.

Tasty teas in Crossford and Roberton were just two examples of locals coming together to enjoy themselves when celebrating Her Majesty’s 60 years on the throne.

Crossford event organiser Stephen Maynard said: “This was a great way of getting the village’s social fabric stitched together.

“We decked out Crossford Village Hall and between 80 and 90 people enjoyed food and drink and had a great time.”

Roberton villager Heather Watt said that locals had loved the street party outside the village hall, which had party tables with cream cakes, strawberry tarts and cup cakes.

“We had a piper who piped everyone to the park,” Heather said.

“And we planted three rowan trees before people enjoyed races and a putting challenge.”
