Museum is an education

VOLUNTEERS at Douglas Heritage Museum are celebrating after the museum was officially accredited by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA).

The museum, which is situated in the former St Sofia’s Chapel in Bell’s Wynd in Douglas next to the ancient St Bride’s Church, has featured exhibits relating to the Douglas family as well as memorabilia from the Cameronian Regiment for many years.

Douglas Heritage Society chairman Iain Kane said: “We are delighted that our museum has been given this recognition especially as it is entirely volunteer run. This award is a tribute to the dedication and enthusiasm of our volunteers over many years.”
