New theatre production with real bite

The renovated church building hosts an unholy adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, written by Liz Lochhead and performed, this time, by BA acting students from Motherwell College.

The writer is best known as Scotland’s national poet (makar, for traditionalists) but it’s arguably her scripts which pack the most punch – or in this case, bite.

Lochhead restores the tragedy of the novel, eroded by countless horror flops and spoofs, to bring the Count back to his original and terrifying incarnation.

This is one of many shows staged by the college at the Glasgow theatre, and promises a crop of up-and-coming actors honing their craft in the atmospheric surroundings of Cottier’s.
