

In his latter years, when folk asked the town’s legendary freelance photographer Jimmy Muncie why, years after his retirement and then in a frail state of health, he insisted on taking the Gazette’s pictures at the Market Square war memorial on a usually freezing November Sunday, his reply was simple...and almost as chilling as the weather.
“Because MY name should be on that Memorial with the rest of the lads,” he said.
