Prince’s Trust team cleans up Wallace Garden, Lanark

ALTHOUGH the official name for the latest group of young Lanark folk to embark on a Prince’s Trust course is Team 9, perhaps Groundforce would have been more apt.

This, the ninth generation of young people to undergo the 12 week course, were given a rather daunting task, that of tidying up the Wallace Garden on the verge of Delves Park.

Since it was created by the Clydesdale Community Initiatives team several years ago, the intentionally ‘wild’ garden has got a bit too wild, the South Vennel-based Initiatives group not having the manpower for regular maintenance.

But the Team 9 group which emerged from the ‘jungle’ victorious at the end of last week got the area trim enough for the Initiative’s team to cope with ongoing, weekly tidy-ups.
