Quiz success for local BB Company

A local Boys’ Brigade Company recently celebrated success in a national competition.

The 128th Glasgow Company from Williamwood Parish Church in Clarkston, won the Scottish final of the Masterteam (Quiz) competition.

The competition is open to all Boys’ Brigade Companies throughout the UK and, along with the 2nd Gourock, runners up in the final, the 128th will now go forward to represent BB Scotland in the UK final in April.

This year the final will be held in Lanark, where BB boys from Scotland, England and Northern Ireland will compete to be crowned the UK Masterteam 2019.

The 128th team had reached the Scottish final in 2018, are delighted to have reached the final for the second year, and over the moon having come out on top this year.

Captained by Cameron Griffiths, the team also consisting of his younger brother Glen, Callum McKenzie and Craig Cameron had a close battle as they progressed through the 10 rounds of questions.

Company Captain, Mark Gordon, said: “Everyone is delighted and immensely proud of the boys who have won a Scottish final after many years of entering the national competitions. We wish the team well as we are honoured to represent our country in the UK final.

“We are still involved in the national badminton, and we are optimistic of winning our next match, in Inverness, that could see us head to Northern Ireland for the UK final of that competition.”

The 128th Glasgow Company have met for over 80 years in Williamwood Church, and are welcoming new boys now and in September when the new session will start.
