Raft of fun in Crossford race

Blazing sunshine saw ideal conditions for Crossford raft race on Saturday, when eight crafts manned by Young Farmers raced down the Clyde from Hazelbank Park to Overton Farm.

The rafts were launched in two batches of four and fastest placed was the Shipfaced raft of Alistair Owen, Peter Mackie, Gordon Devoy and Willie Frame, which bearthed in a time of 1 hour 13 minutes.

Competition was tough and the Titanic sailed into second place, crewed by last year’s winners Robert Allison, Iain Struthers, Graeme Barr and Mike Hamilton only five minutes behind them.
