Ron Harris launches Biggar Little Festival

THAT ancient motto of Biggar ‘Let The Deed Shaw’ was adapted into the new war-cry ‘Let The Show Go Aheid’ as the Gazette played its small part in the official launch of the town’s 10th Little Festival.

The gathering of around 100 guests heard Festival chairman John Rutherford state that there were many people to thank for this autumn feast of music, art, crafts and performance not only surviving but thriving into a second decade.

He had special warm words of praise for the sponsors of the events before handing over to the Gazette’s Ron Harris to declare the Festival open, a speech which left some of the better-educated members of the audience asking if there would be an English translation available after the ceremony.
