The billing for the St Andrews in the Square is a regular best of from the Scottish folk scene, and the both tonight’s performers and the coming week are no exception.

And next Thursday, it’s the turn of Lucy Pringle and Chris Wright – the duo who took the Celtic Connections Danny Kyle stage by storm in 2009.

Their focus is on both traditional and contemporary Scottish tunes, and each has a solid base of knowledge on the subject.

Lucy’s vocals can be heard on Fred Freeman’s Complete Songs of Robert Tannahill project, while Chris is currently working on the Kist o Riches project – a cataloguing of the Scots song archive at the School of Scottish Studies in Edinburgh.

The night promises a host of songs both revived from the history books and brand new – ensuring an entertaining night for folk enthusiasts and Scottish history buffs alike.

n Live at the Star is on every Thursday at St Andrews in the Square from 8pm. Tickets cost £8 (£6 concession) and are available on the door.
