Showtime at the legendary Kirkintilloch Show ... which is in Bishopbriggs!

ALL creatures great and small will be making their way to the famous Kirkintilloch and District Agricultural Show this weekend.

The popular annual event takes place on Saturday (May 19) at Crofthead Showfield in Bishopbriggs and will feature a host of great attractions.

There will be displays involving sled dogs, birds of prey and talented canines from Kirkintilloch and District Dog Training Club.

In addition, there will be vintage cars and tractors on-site, which will form in a parade at around 1pm.

There will also be a magician who will be performing tricks in the main ring and then roaming around the site.

People can take along their own dogs to be shown, animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs for the popular pet show, and prized poultry.

You are invited to take along your pet at 10am and the judging will be at noon. There will be cages with bedding for animals.

As ever there will be wonderful showjumping competitions, as well as horses, sheep and cattle on show.

In addition there will be side attractions such as funfair rides, games, trade and craft stalls, refreshments and catering.

Janis Morrison, one of the directors, said: “It’s for people of all ages. Hopefully we are due a dry spell of weather. Come along and enjoy yourselves, there will be something for everyone.”

Visitors are invited to go along at any time on Saturday, with proceedings on all day from 9am.

Meanwhile, the Campsie Show will be held on Saturday, June 2, at Bogton Farm, Torrance.

The popular event is organised by Campsie Strathblane and Baldernock Agricultural Society and preparations are well underway.

Schedules are available for all sections – including cattle, sheep, light horses and showjumping.

There will also be vintage tractors and cars, and a dog show.

There are classes for everyone in the Industrial Section and a new section for 13-16-year-olds. Trade stand spaces are available.
