Soccer fun for kids at leisure centres

Youngsters hoping to brush up on their soccer skills can do so by signing up to a programme of football which is being run by North Lanarkshire Leisure.

The next block of NL Leisure’s kids soccer schools kick-off next week, Monday, November 4.

Youngsters ranging from ages 18 months to 12 years old can practice their skills and learn the basics from SFA qualified coaches at leisure centres across the area.

The coaching lessons are for all age groups and abilities, and focus on learning the basics, skills development, team play, balance and co-ordination, passing, shooting, game time and most importantly – having fun!

Grant Shearer, who is a football coach in the NL Leisure programme, said: “The last block has been great fun and all the young players have really enjoyed it.

“We practice ball skills, play mini-games, team play and improving fitness.

Parents, grandparents and carers are all welcome to come along and watch their kids and see them develop their talents in a safe and fun environment.”
