Taj Mahal bag two Scottish Curry Awards nominations

STAFF at the Taj Mahal restaurant in Biggar are celebrating having bagged two nominations at this year’s Scottish Curry Awards.

The team at the Taj, based in Biggar High Street, are hoping to win the South West Restaurant of the Year.

And manager Abby Ullah will be hoping to follow up last year’s triumph by winning the Maitre D’ of the Year. Speaking to the Gazette earlier this week, Abby was delighted that the Taj had once again been recognised.

He said: “It’s always great to be nominated because the customers nominate us so it’s very satisfying.

“We can’t thank the public enough; if it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t be in the position we are in.

“We were first nominated in 2009 and since then we have won a couple of awards including Team of the Year.”
