Theatre school is helping youngsters find their light

A new theatre school has opened its doors in Shawlands for youngsters interested in musical theatre.

Find Your Light Theatre School is run by Katie Barnett and Jamie Siggens, who met while studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Since graduating the duo have taught across the country, but thought something was missing in the Southside.

Katie said: “We realised that there wasn’t much going on in the Southside and the people were having to travel far to attend classes.

“We then decided to open our own school in the heart of the Southside to bring a fresh approach to drama teaching

“We teach everything across the musical theatre genre from acting to singing.”

Katie added: “We held an open day in January and we had a great response. Youngsters are still invited to come along and see what we are about.”

The Theatre School is also hosting a special Easter school from April 8-12 from children aged 3-12.

Find Your Light Theatre School meets at Shawlands United Reformed Church on Saturdays 2.30-5.30pm.
