Visitor numbers to New Lanark shoot up
IN a huge tourism boost to Clydesdale, new figures show that visitors to New Lanark shot up by more than 20 per cent during 2014.
The World Heritage Site welcomed almost 360,000 visitors during those 12 months compared to 297,000 in 2013.
And the figures, compiled by the Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions (ASVA), were enough to see New Lanark enter into the top 20 of Scotland’s most visited tourism attractions – beating the likes of Urquhart Castle near Loch Ness, the much heralded Glasgow Science Centre and even Edinburgh’s Dynamic Earth.
