Welcome to the Tramway — it’s a jungle out there

IF YOU go down to the woods today, you’re sure of a big surprise.

Well, woods may be shaving a little off the story as it’s a jungle out there.

Welcome to the Jungle is the theme and title of the Tramway’s family day this Sunday and this one promises to be yet another triumph with an array of exciting activities and to top it all off, the event is completely free.

Sarah Munro, head of Glasgow Arts, said: “The Welcome to the Jungle family day offers an exciting and varied programme for the whole family to enjoy and absolutely no previous experience is necessary.

“Since beginning in November 2009, the family days have had more than 8,000 visitors and these ever-increasing attendances show the people of Glasgow’s continual ambition to embrace and explore a diverse range of contemporary performance and visual arts — from a very early age.

Families should also keep their eyes peeled for the August family day which will explore the work of Greek artist Jannis Kounellis”.

Visitors will be invited to have fun with acclaimed storyteller Anne Pitcher and join her on a jungle story journey, meet her puppet friends, join in with jungle songs and hear her interesting sound makers.

But this is just the start of a day full of fun for all.

Welcome to the Jungle begins at 12.30pm and runs until 5pm.
