Members of Biggar Ramblers have an early start as they leave the Corn Exchange at 9.15am on an eight mile walk to West Linton and around Mendick Hill.

It’s Santa Special weekend at Leadhills and Wanlockhead Railway. A trip on the Santa Special train, with mulled wine and mince pies, is followed by a visit to the Hidden Treasures Mining Museum and a trip into the mine to meet Santa, finished off with presents for all children.

From 11am to 3pm the Upperward Basketmakers will be hosting a Cake, Crafts, Coffee and Christmas event in Abington.

In the evening Blackwood Community Wing is the venue for the local co-ordination group’s Christmas panto. This year is its Cinderella and the fun begins at 6.30pm.

Coalburn Gala Committee’s Christmas family night will be held in the Miners Welfare from 6.30pm while Douglas Victoria Bowling Club members will have their Christmas dance from 8pm to midnight.

Saturday is also the final night of both Lanark Panto Club and Biggar Theatre Workshop’s production which have had sell-out performances all this week.
