For any early risers, St John’s Trekkers will be doing an eight and a half walk on the Clyde Walkway; the bus leaves St John’s Church in Carluke at 9am.

Down in the Clyde Valley, the start of the salmon fishing season will commence at 10.30am when a procession leaves the Popinjay Hotel led by Pipe Major David Stark.

In the evening, the monthly social takes place at Castlehill Bowling Club in Carluke with dancing to Steven Rodgers.

Over in Carstairs, the village gala committee hosts a St Valentine’s special event - a fundraising game of hit ITV show The Chase starring Bradley Walsh - at Carstairs Community Centre at 7.30pm.

Douglas Victoria Bowling Club hosts a St Valentine’s Dance in the clubhouse from 8pm while over in Coalburn Billy Crawford will entertain in the Miners Welfare from 9pm.

And at Carluke Bowling Club, Short & Sweet will be providing the cabaret.

On Sunday, New Lanark hosts a CD and Record Fair from 11am to 4pm while over in Carluke, Stonehouse Male Voice Choir will have a second fundraising concert at Kirkton Church at 7.30pm.
