Last month she celebrated the 65th anniversary of her first public sailing, but while many enjoy retirement at this age, Waverley will not disappoint her many followers and has an exciting programme of trips for them to enjoy.

Sailing from Glasgow Science Centre, Fridays to Mondays until August 25, you can visit Dunoon, Rothesay, Arran and sail through the Kyles of Bute to Tighnabruaich and Tarbert.

Other trips take you to Loch Long, Loch Goil or Loch Fyne. Alternatively you can cruise the Sanda Isles and Mull of Kintryre or see the Antrim Coast as you cruise all the way to Ireland. You can also take the kids on a summer trip to the seaside at Rothesay.

There will be a Pirates and Princesses day on August 3 – with treasure hunts and prizes for best dressed. There are also the legendary Evening Showboats events with live music on July 27 and August 17. Call 0845 130 4647 or visit www.waverleyexcursions.co.uk for more info.

The Herald has three family passes (each for two adults and two children) to give away (subject to conditions). To be in with a chance see this week’s Herald.
