A chance to hear neglected musical masterpieces in Milngavie

Mozart and Schubert are recognised as giants of string quartet composition, but they are not as well known for their music for string trio.

Milngavie Music Club is delighted to be welcoming the outstanding Lendvai String Trio to present an evening of this superb but comparatively unfamiliar music at their next concert in Cairns Church on Friday, March 11 at 7.30pm.

By age 19, Schubert had already matured into the great master who wrote the two charming pieces which open the programme, including the String Trio in B flat - a masterpiece to cherish, full of characteristic Schubertian themes.

Mozart’s Divertimento in E flat is a late and very mature work, one of his greatest works, and richly deserves its position as the culmination of this thrilling programme.

Since their Wigmore Hall debut in 2006, the Lendvai String Trio has had a busy schedule of concerts at major venues throughout Europe, including several re-invitations to Wigmore Hall, recitals at the King’s Place, the Barbican and Purcell Room in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Musikaliska in Stockholm. All three members have also enjoyed international careers of chamber music playing, solo performances and orchestral playing throughout Europe.

In the fine acoustic and intimate atmosphere of Cairns Church, Milngavie Music Club continues to attract large numbers of enthusiastic music lovers to its International Concert Series.

Free refreshments at the interval and the pleasant space makes concerts social occasions as well as musical feasts.
