Two Clydesdale communities are ensuring that 2014 will go out with a bang.

The traditional Biggar Hogmanay bonfire will be lit at approximately 9.30pm on December 31 by twins Jim and Adam Foster.

It will be the first time in the decades-long town tradition that a set of twins will have been given the honour of lighting the bonfire.

Hundreds of people will be there as always but as with recent years organisers will make sure everyone can see the action with a live feed taking place throughout the event.

It can be viewed at www.biggarwebcam.co.uk and it is certainly growing in popularity with over 5,000 hits last year from all over the world.

And the Carnwath 2000 Committee will be hosting its own traditional celebrations.

Villagers have been hard at work over the past few days getting the bonfire ready despite the freezing temperatures

The Hogmanay bonfire and procession will begin at 8pm from Carnwath Golf Club.

The procession will walk up the Main Street, led by a piper, to the top park.

The bonfire will be lit by Jim Lothian and Gala Queen Megan Tweedie at approximately 9pm.

And after the bonfire has been lit a fantastic fireworks display will ensure that this unforgettable year goes out with a bang.
