A piece of Eastwood high for all of East Ren

AN ELABORATE wooden easel handcrafted by an Eastwood high teacher is to take pride of place at special events across East Renfrewshire.

Design technology teacher JP Murray spent a week’s holiday making the easel, designed to hold a plaque at the official opening of the school.

Former furniture designer JP used Scottish witch elm from sustainable woodland.

Woodwork is the teacher’s passion, and he added: “I have a lathe in my garage, and I’m out there most nights!”

The easel has now been handed over to East Renfrewshire council for use in VIP ceremonies and events.
