A spirited show

IT WAS high time that Queen’s Park earned a point after a woeful start to the season as they were the only team in professional football without one.

And that’s in the whole of the UK.

It’s been a tough start for the team, but at the weekend it was the ref who was earning all the abuse as he made a couple of howling decisions against the Spiders.

But a spirited performace saw the team come back from 3-1 down to Elgin.

Within 20 minutes, Queen’s found themselves 2 goals to the bad after strikes by Wyness and Mackenzie.

QP managed to get back in the game when Quinn scored from the penalty spot after a foul on Spittal.Elgin, though, were next on the scoresheet when ex-Spider Paul Harkins shot low past Lochhead to make it 3-1.

Shortly befor the break, a McComish fired a cross which was met by Quinn who headed past the keeper to make it 2-3.

In the second half, there were chances for both teams, however it was Queen’s who made the most of one of theres to claim their first point.

Lamie made a clearance down the Spiders’ left.

Second-half sub Vitoria and Duff chased the ball but when the Elgin skipper messed up his attempted pass back, the Spiders’ striker picked up the ball and scored the equaliser.

If QP can perform like this, it won’t be so bad.
