Abington woman Helen Damer wins top cooking award

An Abington woman who began rearing pigs in January has already won a prestigious cooking award in recognition of the succulent, delicious sausages that she has produced.

Helen Damer, of Carlisle Road, won Best Cook at Country Living’s inaugural Kitchen Table Talent Awards, which attracted over 1000 entries across eight categories.

“I take great pride in winning and am absolutely delighted about it,” said married mum of three Helen (45).

“Our pigs take longer to mature and give a fuller flavour than hardy outdoor pigs.

People who have tasted our pork have said they have not tasted meat as good as it for 20 years.

“Our sausages are pure meat with flavours or seasoning, and don’t have any rubbish inside them at all.

“I went on a pig-keeping course and now want to turn my hobby into a successful business, selling half-pigs as well as sausage and bacon products.”
