Ace angler Sam Thomson breaks grayling record

FORTH fishing sensation Sam Thomson may only be seven-years-old - but that hasn’t stopped him from becoming the new Scottish grayling record holder.

Sam, who attends Forth Primary School, broke the previous record catch of three pounds one ounce while fishing the River Clyde with grandfather Sam McCully.

And not only did young Sam beat the record, he absolutely smashed it by catching a three pounds 10 ounce beauty using a four pound line.

It’s all in a day’s work for Sam.

He said: “I had been fishing a lot for grayling but it is hard to get the conditions just right but I was hopeful I’d catch a big one.”
