A planning application has been submitted to North Lanarkshire Council by Network Rail asking for permission to construct a replacement station building at Cumbernauld train station on South Carbrain Road.

Network Rail confirmed that the train station is to benefit from the major redevelopment as part of the work to electrify the Glasgow to Cumbernauld line ahead of the Commonwealth Games in 2014.
