All hands on decks for charity causes

EAGLESHAM’S Dave Marshall has helped swell the coffers of a pair of charities with the help of local seniors.

The veteran radio presenter raised £1,5000 for Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Alzheimer’s Scotland through his unique interactive reminiscence sessions.

The fundraising project inspired by Dave’s regular visits to the care home which looked after his mother, who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in her final
years.

The fundraising venture, Yesterday Once More, is an unincorporated not-for-profit social enterprise group of willing volunteers.

The former Radio Clyde, Saga Radio and 105.2 Smooth Radio DJ told The Extra: “I’m delighted to be able to put to good use the encyclopaedic knowledge of music from the last six decades, which I’ve gained during 40 years as a prime time daily presenter on radio and TV.

“Every older person has a wealth of stories to tell and a host of memories, often locked away.

“During our friendly and light-hearted sessions, I encourage my audience, without pressure, to recall their own special moments from the past.

“ It could be a favourite song or recording star or perhaps a film or radio or television show from the last 60 years.

“A unique opportunity like this is sure to arouse many special memories of a bygone era and with audio and bright images projected onto a giant screen.

“Everyone present can choose to become involved as I access the wealth of nostalgia available, live, online from my iPad.”

Yesterday Once More reminiscence presentations are available to seniors in venues across the west of Scotland, including residential retirement developments, day centres and hotels.
