Almost 7000 people opposing Hyndford Quarry extension on scenic outskirts of Lanark

THERE are now almost 7000 people saying with one voice “NO” to more quarrying on the scenic outskirts of Lanark.

And that could actually be a PROBLEM for the pressure group fighting Cemex’s scheme to extend its Hyndford Quarry into the official protected landscape `buffer zone’ down to New Lanark.

Although delighted that 6827 people have now signed their petition opposing the scheme, SOL (Save Our Landscapes) knows that, technically, South Lanarkshire Council will regard that petition as just a SINGLE objection!
