An artist’s touch

NETHERLEE primary pupil Martha Smith has come up trumps in a design competition.

The primary seven has won an East Renfrewshire council contest to design a logo for the newly-named Sensory Support Service (formerly known as TASN – teachers of additional support needs).

Around 50 children entered artwork, but Martha’s colourful creation stood out, and her artistic skills won her a certificate and voucher for Silverburn shopping centre.

Martha said: “I was really surprised, but pleased to win. I just started drawing an eye and it went from there.”

The presentation, by ERC education convener Elaine Green, took place at Isobel Mair school where the newly-named team – who support young people with sensory impairment – is based.
