Appeal after elderly Yorkie in terrible pain is dumped on the street

The Scottish SPCA was alerted after the female dog was discovered in the area of Lomond Road and Moncrieff Avenue on the evening of Sunday, February 21.

The seriously ill little dog is now in the care of the animal charity’s Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.

Inspector Kerry Friel at the charity said: “This wee girl is in a very bad way but we have made her comfortable for now.

“She is suffering from a collapsed windpipe, a painful skin disease and has numerous mammary tumours.

“Our vet has estimated her to be at least 16 years old and it’s heart-breaking because despite everything she is going through she is the friendliest little soul who just wants cuddles.

“We are keen to identify her owner and find out how she came to be in such an awful condition.

“If anyone has any information to help with our investigation we would urge them to contact us.”

Causing an animal unnecessary suffering is an offence under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006. Anyone found guilty of doing so can expect to be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.
