She then left the park and took a short cut home along the canal path which runs behind the Little India Takeaway on Blairdardie Road.

Her attacker is described as white with a stocky build and a ruddy complexion. He was wearing an old style knee length duffle coat with the hood up.

Detective Inspector Gillian Patrick said: “This was a terrifying experience for the victim who has been left badly shaken by what happened.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the surrounding area around the time of the attack to think back to whether they saw anything suspicious or noticed a man matching the description.

“This would appear to be an isolated incident and additional patrols have been put in place to provide reassurance to the community as officers continue to conduct enquiries locally.

“Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact police on 101 or alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where all calls will be kept anonymous.”
