Appeal after serious assault

Police are appealing for witnesses after two men were injured in a serious assault in Glasgow city centre.

The men aged 33 and 43 were walking in Hope Street, near Waterloo Street, at 11.25pm on Friday when they were approached by a group of men.

They were attacked by the gang before being pushed to the ground.

The 33-year-old man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he was treated for a head injury. The 43-year-old man received minor injuries.

Police have appealed for people who may have witnessed the assault to come forward.

Det Sgt Colin MacRitchie said: “Inquiries are continuing into this incident and officers are studying CCTV images to gather more information on the men responsible for this attack.

“We believe that the suspects had been in one of the pubs in Hope Street between Argyle Street and Waterloo Street.”
