Appeal for information about armed robbery at Bearsden petrol station

A man entered the BP service station at the Bearsden end of Maryhill Road with a blunt weapon and demanded money from a member of staff at about 6.30am this morning (Tuesday, August 4).

No one was injured during the incident. The man obtained a three-figure sum of money and ran off on foot in the direction of Coronation Way heading south.

The suspect is described as a white local man, medium build, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall. He was wearing a black jacket, red trousers and a red and white scarf.

DC Joseph Keith, at the robbery unit of Pollok police office, said: “Thankfully no one was injured during the robbery. However, it was a very frightening experience for the member of staff at the shop.

“Our enquiries are still at quite an early stage. We are analysing CCTV and conducting interviews. I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of the petrol station at the time of incident to contact police with any relevant information.”
