Appeal for volunteers

A CUMBERNAULD man is looking for volunteers to help set up a new environmental organisation.

Kevin Marnie is appealing to adults with an interest in the outdoors, to create a Cumbernauld branch of the Woodcraft Folk.

Kevin, 36, was previously a member of Dundee's Woodcraft Folk. He said: "I love camping, hillwalking and the outdoors and that's why I got involved in the first place.

"It's an educational movement which teaches children about the environment and the world we live in.

"Once I have the adult volunteers we can take it from there, so I need people to get in touch if they're interested."

First established in 1925 as alternative to the Scouts, Woodcraft Folk uses games, singing, drama, camping, outdoor activities and hiking to encourage young people to think about the world.

The father-of-four added: "I would love for this to go ahead in Cumbernauld and we can get children involved in cleaning up the town."
