Appeal for witnesses after elderly man knocked down by car in east end

The police are appealing for witnesses after a 72-year-old man was involved in a hit and run in Glasgow's east end at the weekend.

The car knocked the man down at the junction with Anson Street on Saturday, April 2 at around 10.40pm and the driver didn’t stop and drove off west along London Road.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he is being treated for leg injuries. Hospital staff describe his condition as stable.

Sergeant Nicola Taylor from the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Helen Street said: “The police investigation is continuing to trace the car involved and its driver and I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with information that may assist our enquiries to contact our office through the non-emergency number 101.”
