Apprentices are put through their paces

Soldiers from the Royal Regiment of Scotland organised an assault course as part of a team building day for staff and apprentices at Tigers Ltd and Carillion plc at their Huntershill training facility.

Lieutenant Colonel Garry Stimpson, Commanding Officer of 6 SCOTS said: “Our soldiers set up a number of physical and mental tasks, specifically designed to test people’s communication skills, leadership skills and ability to work as part of 
the team.

“It was great to see people developing as the day went on, and watch the teams come together to solve the challenges we had set them.

“The best bit for me was watching the young apprentices coming out of their shells and having the confidence to speak up and realise that everyone in a team has a valid contribution to make.”

Pauline Scott, Operations Director at TIGERS, said: “Our staff and apprentices involved on the day have reported back to say it was extremely beneficial in terms of skills, communication and problem solving, whilst enjoying the unique event. Working with the military was a first for TIGERS, but the experience for all will ensure that we explore further opportunities, especially for our apprentices, who from an apprehensive beginning embraced the skills learning.”
