£17k worth of valuables stolen in Lenzie break-ins

Two families in Lenzie have been left devastated after raiders made off with more than £17,000 worth of valuables from their homes.

The thieves stole £14,500 worth of jewellery and other items from a house at Ninian Crescent and more than £3,000 worth of goods from a property at Lint Mill Road in the Woodilee area.

The robbers struck at both homes between Sunday, September 11 and Monday, September 12.

Car keys were also swiped from the house at Ninian Crescent, although police said no vehicles were actually stolen.

Community police officers at Kirkintilloch are warning residents to be extra vigilant in securing their homes.

A police spokersperson said: “Thieves are looking for any weak spots they can find.

“Make sure all your doors and windows are secure and don’t leave car keys in sight, particularly within reach of your front doors.

“Although it did not happen in this case, robbers often hook keys use a ‘fishing rod’ type method through letter boxes.”

Anyone who can help police find the robbers should call 101.
