Awards are doing the business for charity

Just over £8,500 was raised at the 2015 East Dunbartonshire Business Awards final thanks to the individuals, organisations and enterprises who contributed to the raffle and auction.

The fantastic sum has now been split between a variety of good causes.

The charities each receiving £800 are East Dunbartonshire Association for Mental Health, Friends of Kelvinbank, Bearsden Caledonian Awards, Hillhead Forum Youth Club, Twechar Community Action, Fresh Start East Dunbartonshire, Friends of Instrumental Music in East Dunbartonshire Schools, GRACE Recovery Walk, Kirkintilloch Men’s Shed and Thomas Muir 250 Anniversary Events.

In addition, there will be a donation to Deafblind Scotland’s Field of Dreams project.

Council Leader Rhondda Geekie welcomed representatives of this year’s recipients to Tom Johnston Chamber recently.

She said: “I would like to say a huge thank-you to everyone who contributed to the wonderful amount raised - which is even higher than the sum raised at the 2014 final. It is genuinely much appreciated.

“The support for the fundraising auction and raffle - both in terms of donations before the event and also on the night itself from the assembled guests - was remarkable.

“Well done to all the award winners and a special thank-you to everyone who bought raffle tickets and took part in the auction. There was a great range of prizes on offer - all of which were kindly donated.”
