Balmaha to host second Braw weekend

The excitement is building for this year's Balmaha's Braw Weekend. The event, attracted over 5,000 visitors last year and this year the festival is set to be even bigger and better.

The weekend starts on Friday, September 30 with a 5-course meal, designed by some of Scotland’s leading chefs. Tickets to the dinner and ceilidh quickly sold out.

On Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd October from 11am-5pm Balmaha’s Braw Weekend will feature family entertainment, with live music, theatre, food and drink demonstrations, plus rides and attractions. Daytime entry is free, with plenty of free parking.

Highlights during the day will include food and drink demonstrations, including a free whisky and chocolate pairing session by Glengoyne Distillery, who will also be running a buzz wire competition to win prizes. For the children there are free magic shows, a Lego bus, funfair rides, plus there are craft stalls, along with plenty of food and drink.

This year visitors to Balmaha’s Braw Weekend can travel by train and boat during the day from Glasgow to the festival. A special waterbus service is being provided by Sweeney’s Cruises, timed to link with trains arriving and departing Balloch Train Station.

A very popular part of Balmaha’s Braw Weekend is the Saturday night live music, this year featuring performances from Dave Arcari, Have Mercy Las Vegas, Mark McGowan and Miracle Glass Company from 7pm. Tickets available on the door for £5.

Balmaha’s Braw Weekend is organised by multi award winning Loch Lomond business The Oak Tree Inn and is supported by Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park and EventScotland, a team within VisitScotland Event Directorate.

Stuart Fraser from The Oak Tree Inn said: “We’ve got a tough act to follow after the success of the first ever Balmaha’s Braw Weekend last year, however this year we have arranged even more entertainment and attractions, plus much of the festival will be undercover so you can enjoy the Braw weekend rain or shine.”
