Battlefield youngsters are away out to play

Traffic stopped on Arundel Drive in Battlefield last Sunday as locals staged the city’s — and Scotland’s — first Playing Out session.

The national drive — aimed at allowing children to play safely in the street — came to Battlefield in the form of Playing Oot, and from 2-4pm, youngsters were able to come and go without worrying about passing cars.

Organiser Anna Bambridge told The Extra: “It turned out to be a great day.

“It poured with rain but we still had really good numbers, with up to 50 people taking part.”

The pilot event may be repeated in the future.
