BBC Two series needs your help
The first experiment will be testing whether vegetable oil can protect people’s hearts. The programme needs participants to drink two tablespoons of oil a day for six weeks. It is very rare for small/simple/cheap dietary changes to cause measurable health improvements, so the programme’s producers are hoping for some positive results.
The tests wil be measuring heart health using a new technique called ‘proteomics’ which checks for health markers in people’s urine.

Hide AdThe second experiment is testing whether protein supplements actually help people gain muscle. This is of relevance to both younger people who might be spending lots of money on expensive protein shakes, and older people who are worried about muscle loss as they age.
The programme need’s participants to take protein supplements and undertake resistance training three times a week for eight weeks.
