Beth braves the charity chop

EAGLESHAM youngster Beth McKee braved the chop for charity this week after learning about the work of the Little Princess Trust.

Beth (10) was in need of a haircut, but wasn’t keen on going too short initially.

However, after finding out about the charity’s work with children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment, the kind-hearted Eaglesham primary pupil decided to give up those extra inches for such a good cause.

Mum Fiona told The Extra: “We explained that some people donate their hair to children who have lost theirs.

“Beth thought about how a couple of inches away made her feel, and then imagined how children that have lost all of their hair must
feel.

“The next day she decided that she would donate her hair so that those children going through cancer treatment could have a wig which would make them feel happy and normal again.”

Shaping the primary six’s new ‘do was stylist John, of Davidson & Green hair salon in Stamperland — who kindly waived the usual £20 fee, to be added to her sponsorship money.

Beth has now raised £568 — and mum Fiona is very proud of the charitable youngster.

She added:”We’d like to thank everyone who supported Beth by sponsoring, and her friends and family who came along to the salon to give some moral
support.”
