Betty, along with her daughter Elizabeth Bain, presented the £4,000 cheque to Beatson staff thanks to a fundraising day held at Betty’s Carluke home.

The coffee and cakes were enjoyed by everyone and the raffle and tombola ensured that the Beatson would receive a bumper cheque.

Betty was delighted by the generosity of everyone who went along earlier this summer.

She said: “Raising £4,000 was unbelievable; it’s the biggest total we have ever had.

“Every year it seems to get bigger and bigger.

“I can’t thank the people who came along enough.

“Every year we say we would like to raise a wee bit more but you don’t want to be too greedy.

“We just want to thank everyone who came along and helped in any way and all those people who went along on the day.

“We couldn’t do it without them.”
