Big-hearted builders bare all to raise cash for charity

A group of Kirkintilloch
builders are flashing the flesh in a raunchy calendar to raise cash for an annual Christmas charity appeal.

Inspired by the Calendar Girls, Kenny McSporran and his workmates at Pan Joiners and Building Services have already raised more
than £1,000 for Radio Clyde’s Cash for Kids.

Local firms and customers have been sponsoring pages and ordering copies.

Kenny told the Herald: “I asked the guys if they would do it for a joke and things just snowballed from there.

“All that’s covering my modesty is a four-leaf clover!

He added: “We chose Cash for Kids as our charity of choice because all the money goes to needy kids in the west of Scotland.”

He said the Calendar Boys have been overwhelmed at the response so far.

“Kenny said: “The feedback has been amazing – we have sold £350 so far.”

The lads are being joined on the calendar by fellow workers from neighbouring firms Clyde Scaffolding and Holland Roofing.

They are not the only ones to get their kit off to raise money for charity.

Macmillan Cancer support are benefiting from Calendar Girls Margaret Wylie of Bishopbriggs and her two sisters Elaine and Beth.

The Herald highlighted their fundraising efforts a few weeks ago.

All three sisters have had double mastectomies after inheriting the deadly breast cancer gene BRACA1.

Their mum Jean died of the disease in 1993 at the age of 60 after suffering from cancer for 17 years.

The calendars produced by the local builders are priced £10. To order a copy, contact Pan Joinery on 0141 776 4838.
