Biggar couple enjoy new energy saving guest house

THE owners of a Biggar guest house are racing away from rivals in the energy-saving stakes after installing charge points for electric cars.

Elmsleigh Guest Lodge, in Broughton Road, is the first B&B or hotel in South Lanarkshire to install the charging points.

Owners John and Elaine Riley hope the steady rise in electric vehicles (EVs) will bring them more business.

The couple, who have been married for 31 years, have spent just over a year building a Bed and Breakfast extension on their home while at the same time doing an Eco renovation on their main house, aiming for “Super Home” recognition.

This basically involved ripping the house apart to extensively insulate it and install a variety of energy saving measures which will make many green with envy.
