Biggar group protests against poles erected at Burnbraes Park

RESIDENTS around a well-loved Clydesdale beautyspot are in a state of revolt this week over a sudden and very unwelcome addition to the local landscape.

People living around Burnbraes Park in Biggar were at first surprised and then angered when British Telecom workers turned up without warning on Friday and began erecting three large poles in what is an official Conservation Area.

It immediately sparked protests from the town’s Friends of Burnbraes Park, a group set up to improve the scenic valley park.
