Biggar Marches 2010

SUNDAY'S Biggar Marches started Gala Week off in fine style, as over 90 Cornets' Club members mounted horses for their annual ride out.

The day saw 11-year-old Biggar Primary pupil Kathryn Sandilands sashed as Gala Queen by 2009 Queen Aileen Campbell at Biggar Church.

David Williamson (47), of South Back Road, was sashed as Cornet by Janette Wales, who also installed Andrew Barrie as Cornet Elect.

"I was very proud to see Kathryn sashed," said her dad Ian.

"Kathryn, my wife Kay and I, our youngest daughter Eilidh and Kathryn's two grans, Frances Sandilands and Cathie Walker, really enjoyed it too."

Biggar Cornet David also thoroughly enjoyed Sunday's events.

On Bizzyberry Hill, David and Cornet Elect Andrew raised a flag to officially launch Gala week.
