Biggar Rally attracts 910 entrants

THE Biggar Rally has been going as one of the country's major motor heritage events for so long that some of the vintage cars going on show on Sunday weren't even built when it started!

Despite it now being in its 38th year, the rally is far from running out of fuel, never mind breaking down.

For 501 cars will be on show, ranging from a 1905 Albion with a Biggar birthright to the 1980s' Ford Escorts RS2000 and Mk II entered by the Jackson family of Carluke.

Sunday's event will feature classic cars, ancient motorbikes, military vehicles and trade stalls.

There are 910 official entries with Entrant No.1 and Entrant No 910 being locals, namely S Dunlop's 1963 Triumph Spitfire 4 from the Blackwood Classic Car Club and M.Yuill of Lanark's Ex-Army Clothing Stand.

And the 908 entrants in between are all worth going along to see too.

Biggar Rally takes place on Sunday, August 15, from 10am to 4pm. Admission is 6 per adult, 4 kids/concessions.

For more information on the event, pick up a copy of this week's Carluke and Lanark Gazette which is in the shops now.
