Bike charity sets up shop in the ‘Nauld

A charity which aims to promote the benefits of cycling has set up shop in Cumbernauld, and now they are looking for an army of volunteers to help run their operation.

The charity iAmBikes recycle and refurbish bikes, organise cycling groups and run cycling maintenance classes.

They originally set up a pilot project in Coatbridge last year when they gained their charitable status, but now their permanent home is the Lenziemill Industrial Estate.

Cumbernauld taxi driver Phil Jones, of Abronhill, volunteers with the organisation.

He got involved with them when he took part in a charity cycle from London to Brighton earlier this year.

The News and Chronicle previously reported that Phil had turned his life around shifting an incredible eight stone through healthy eating and cycling.

For full story, see this week’s Cumbernauld News or Kilsyth Chronicle dated Wednesday, August 7.
