Birthday gift

A KIND-HEARTED Kilsyth woman celebrated her 70th birthday by donating a huge cheque to charity.

Grace Miller, of Rennie Road, asked guests to donate money for a charity of her choosing for her big day rather than buying her gifts.

The diabetic departments of Stobhill and Glasgow Royal Infirmary hospitals benefited from Grace’s fundraising and she handed the cash over to Doctor Derek Gordon, above.

She choose to make a donation because her late husband Gordon suffered from diabetes and had received treatment at both hospitals before he passed away six years ago.

She raised a total of £765 in addition to £500 raised at his funeral.

Grace received a medal for raising the funds for the hospitals.
